A while ago I posted about my feature in Catapult Art Magazine's digital edition vol 4 . Well, now the magazine is also available in a print version that you can purchase here.  Every issue published by Catapult has been fantastic, and they have been so positive and supportive to artists. Shine on!

Feature on Heidi Alamanda in Catapult Magazine Issue 4

I'm so thankful to be included in Catapult Magazine Issue 4 by Thena Cartwright, owner/creator of the magazine. Catapult Magazine is a monthly art magazine where artists, art patrons and gallery owners connect. I really like the credo of the magazine "Let us not outshine one another, but let us shine brighter together."

Check out my feature on page 12 of the magazine, and you can also view previous issues on their website

Japan Cinema Creative Interviews Vol. I, painting in progress shot and other artsy things

Hello hello,
I have been slow in updating this blog...whoops :)  I'm still working on this painting (picture below) and it takes longer than my previous paintings since there are a lot of new challenges in this piece; something that I've never experienced before. Producing like a racing machine and leaving my soul somewhere in the middle of that sprinting aren't my goals. I need to translate what I feel onto canvas. If it has to take a bit longer than I will embrace that process :)

Other exciting news. I'm part of Japan Cinema Creative Interviews Vol. I. I wrote before about my interview with Japan Cinema. Well, Marcello Milteer compiled those creative interviews into a book. You can purchase the book here, and also check out their inspiring website.

Book cover (not my artwork :) )
I've been having an affair with acrylics and colored pencils in between working on my current painting :)  Sometimes I just need to keep myself creatively fresh by doing something different and experimenting a bit. I'm sure my painting will understand that..hehe

Some Art Updates (Exciting News): My First Solo Show, and Pop Surrealism Magazine

I haven't gotten enough time to update this blog and I apologize for that. Things have been great and there are so many sweet surprises recently. There're so many nice people that I just feel what I have done to deserve that kindness....seriously:)

One of the  cool news is an upcoming solo exhibition. I've known this for a while but I haven't mentioned on this blog because I don't like to expose things unless it's almost finalized or even better, it's already finalized.

My solo show entitled "Beautiful Little World of My Solitude" will be at David Apuzzo Gallery in Hamden, CT.Here's the detail for the opening
Date/Time: November 19th, 2010/ 5pm-10pm
Location: 4133 Whitney Ave. Hamden, CT 06518
Snacks and drinks will be served.

Please swing by if you're in the area. I would love to meet and talk to you. I'm a bit shy to people that I haven't met, but I promise you that I'll be more than happy to chat with you:)
 Here's my show card

Other exciting news is, Richard Kalisher, the publisher of Pop Surrealism Magazine, has kindly included me in their Fall 2010 edition. Thanks so much, Richard! It's truly truly an  honor to be among all of other artists that I admire and respect. You can read the digitized version of the magazine here http://www.popsurmag.com/
I'm so happy to see any art magazines like this around. I think it makes the world happier...at least that's how I feel...hehe

As far as my painting progress, there's one finished painting that I'll post the pic soon. I need DH to take a better resolution pic of it and also put it up on my website. One painting is on progress and there's other thing I still need to do for my solo show. I'll post about it later.

Latest Painting and New Sketch

I hope you have a productive Monday:)
Here's the photo of my latest painting as I promised.

Indonesian at Heart
oil on linen
18x24 inches

It has a special meaning like the rest of my paintings, but I'll just leave it to the viewer.

There's a new painting that I just started. It was based on this rough drawing on my moleskine.

Other interesting things:
- Eric Fortune recently posted something really inspiring on his blog titled Tips and Tricks from an Art Slave. It's a nice reminder for us as an artist to be patient in doing what we love.
- Richard Scarry and The Chipster just put this interview with Sas and Colin Christian on Juxtapoz . It's a really cool interview. It explored a bit of Sas Christian's painting process and showed some images of her latest paintings. You could also tell from the interview that they were such a loving couple. Really sweet:)
- I just found this cool blog of Danny Roberts, a fashion illustrator. You may have seen his works on some fashion magazines like Vogue.

New Hi Fructose and Rough Drawings

There have been too many interruptions for my creativity flow recently. Frustrating!
I haven't been able to focus on my painting this week. We're going to be out of town for this weekend. I'm going to visit an Indonesian friend and meet other new friends. It'll be nice chatting in my mother tongue. Then my parents in laws are going to stay with us. Busy busy busy. Need to clean the house right after we return home. I have decided to put painting off first and focus on spending time with them.
Meanwhile, I just put some ideas on my moleskine or do rough drawings on sketch book.

I can't wait to turn two of those drawings into paintings. Gotta wait gotta wait:)

By the way, thanks for reading and/or leaving some comments and feedbacks on my modest blog. I really appreciate it a lot. It's always nice to meet new friends. I did also visit your blogs, but couldn't leave any comments to some of you who use embedded comments. But I did read your blogs:)
